Dance, Dance, Dance to the Movie Screen

Saw the Joy Division movie, Control this weekend. Man was I impressed. I may be a little biased but I will go ahead and say this is one of the best movies I've seen this year. I read the book Touching From A Distance, written by lead singer Ian Curtis's wife Deborah, a few years ago. It's more or less the basis for this movie. First time director Anton Corbijn does a brilliant job translating it to the big screen. Sam Riley, as Ian Curtis, was phenomenal. It was everything I have always assumed Ian and Joy Division would be like. Considering I was only 7 years old when Curtis committed suicide and not really a Joy Division fan until around 2000, I was loving the authenticity of the live performances. I even did a little research on the ole YouTube. Pretty much spot-on. If you're even remotely a fan of either Joy Division or British noir cinema, go see it!
