...Naturally~Back Alley Gallery~St. Paul, MN~5/30/09
Dave and Chris have stuffed the gallery, top to bottom, with an overwhelming amount breathtaking new work. The opening was last Saturday night. Shit is glorious, trust me. Unfortunately I didn't take many photos of the artwork, as I was amazed at the sheer number of old friends and famous folks in the house. Pretty much grabbed a beer and started laughing. When meeting Eli's girlfriend, who's name escapes me, I was introduced as "An amazing artist and a cultural guru of sorts; a Don Corleone of everything that's cool." or something like that. Surely, he was being too kind. However, his brother was being 100 percent accurate when he referred to me not only as "The guy who taught me how to party." but as "The guy that taught me Stingers in the kitchen of some late night party in Bemidji." Teaching kids to party: my legacy! (Jeff Gilbert taught me the fine art of the Stinger.) Speaking of Stingers: Eli and Cyrus won the bone crushing high-five competition taking place in the hallway. But not without first getting instruction from Chris. "Focus on the elbow!" We were all fortunate enough to bask in the radiant, warming glow, provided by the beautiful and talented Hattie, who traveled from Duluth. (Was what I just said creepy?) Anyway, in case you missed it, the show runs this weekend as well. Come on down and check it out. I promise you won't be disappointed, unless, of course, like me, you're disappointed in yourself, because you could never turn out such great stuff like these guys. No, seriously, you'll love it.
